Mike Wills (standing in for John Maytham) spoke to Siyabulela Mamkeli, Mayoral Committee Member: Health who confirmed receiving a warning from NSPCA to stop drowning the rats.
Mamkeli said that the city has since stopped drowning the rats and reverted back to block-baiting. He says that the drowning strategy was much safer to humans.
He says the issue is currently in the hands of their legal team.
