The problem with our water infrastructure

It's official, we are facing a water supply crisis in South Africa.

Minister of Water and Sanitation Nomvula Mokonyane confirmed that South Africa is facing a severe water crisis and that the department might have to reduce water supplies if the drought affecting large parts of the country continues.

Mokonyane said that two provinces have been declared disaster zones because of the drought but that government is making plans to get through the problem.

Stephen Grootes spoke to Department of Water Affairs' Deputy Director General Strategic and Emergency Projects Drought Intervention Specialist, Trevor Ballzer about SA's water infrastructure.
