The illegal trade of so-called pre-Rica’d sim cards, already registered on the database, continues to threaten the integrity of the communication act.
The Regulation of Interception of Communications and Provision of Communication-Related Information Act (RICA) requires sim cards to be registered to a person with a corresponding ID number and home address.
Caller, Abdul said that despite law, he was able to access sealed and pre-Rica’d sim cards from five different vendors on Long Street and offered feedback from his findings.
