Got a tax complaint? The Tax Ombud will help you take on Sars (for FREE!)

(Also read "Sars gives tips on Tax Season 2015".)

The Tax Ombud was created by sections 14 and 15 of the Tax Administration Act, No. 28 of 2011.

The Tax Ombud is appointed by - and reports directly to - the Minister of Finance.

The Tax Ombud is independent of SARS and its mandate must be executed impartially.

The Tax Ombud’s role is to resolve complaints.

It functions as a “check” on the authority of Sars.

The Money Show's Bruce Whitfield interviewed Advocate Eric Mkhawane, CEO of the Tax Ombud Office (phone 0800 662 837), for his weekly "Make Money Mondays" feature.
