Stellenbosch University announced last week that English will be made the primary language of instruction at the institution.
University rector, Wim de Villiers said that language should enhance rather than limit learning opportunities.
De Villiers said that the decision comes following input from the student community and university management.
We want to accelerate parallel mediums to help those who do not understand sufficient Afrikaans. The point is that we should strive to facilitate all learning.— Wim de Villiers, Stellenbosch University rector
