'The more water you use, more money you will pay' - Environmental affairs MEC

The Department of Water and Sanitation has set aside money to assist provinces affected by the country’s ongoing drought and water crisis.

Five provinces were declared as drought disaster areas namely: Mpumalanga, KZN, Limpopo, Gauteng and North West.

CapeTalk’s John Maytham spoke to Anton Bredell, Environmental affairs MEC about the water situation in the Western Cape.

According to Bredell the situation is more worrying in the West Coast and Central Karoo.

We are currently on average 20 percent less water in our storage than we did last year the same time

He says they are currently on a process of putting measures in place to save water - the more water people use more money they will pay.
