Seventeen-year-old Justin Langley was reportedly hacked to death in Uitsig, near Ravensmead in the early hours of Sunday morning.
The teen’s mother Brigitte Langley told Eyewitness News she threw herself on top of her son in a bid to protect him.
She says her son had words with some men on the streets of Uitsig shortly after 2am on Sunday morning. She claims a group of about 10 men then started attacking her child in front of her.
She says they used an axe and a homemade claw-like weapon to mutilate the teen.
Brigitte says her son was well-loved by his peers and was vehemently opposed to gangs and drugs.
His teacher Leana Le Breton paid tribute to Justin. She says he loved rugby, was always very helpful and will be remembered by his smile.
