Meyiwa murder accused fears for his life after charges dropped
EWN Correspondent, Thando Kubheka on this story: The family of Zamokuhle Mbatha who was released after investigators failed to link him to the murder of soccer star Senzo Meyiwa, says he felt safer in prison than he feels outside. The Bafana Bafana and Orlando Pirates captain was shot and killed on 26 October while visiting his girlfriend Kelly Khumalo in Vosloorus, sparking the massive manhunt which led police to Mbatha. The 25-year-old was identified by two separate witnesses and charged with murder and robbery a week-and-a-half ago.
Cell C's most disgruntled customer paid how much for that banner?
EWN Correspondent, Thando Kubheka on this story: It's understood an anti-Cell C banner, which was professionally printed bearing the Cell C logo, cost an angry customer over R60,000. It was erected by angry customer, George Prokas, on Beyers Naude Drive, Johannesburg, outside the World Wear Mall last week. It's understood Prokas was angry about the service he received at the Sandton City branch. The service provider has launched an urgent application to have the banner removed.
Project Rosetta probe falls off comet
Reuters on this story: The European Space Agency landed a probe on a comet on Wednesday, a first in space exploration and the climax of a 10-year-odyssey, but an anchoring system problem may hamper planned investigations into the origins of Earth and the solar system. The 100-kg (220-pound) lander - virtually weightless on the comet's surface - touched down on schedule at about 11 a.m. ET after a seven-hour descent from its orbiting mothership Rosetta, now located a half-billion kilometers (300 million miles) from Earth.
