The City of Cape Town says that residents of Runciman Heights and Harbour Heights in Simon's Town are being evacuated as the fire which broke out near Klawer Valley spreads.
The fire has affected the following structures:
Afrikander Road (two houses completely destroyed)
Valley Road (one house and one double garage completely destroyed)
Dorries Road (one house destroyed and another damaged)
- Oatlands Holiday Village (six structures damaged)
The SPCA has five vehicles on the scene, including a dog trailer and horse box as well as 10 people to help with the evacuation of animals.
A number of dogs and cats have been evacuated to a holding area.
SPCA staff members are nursing a burned tortoise.
The City of Cape Town Fire Services is being assisted by National Parks, the SA Navy, City Biodiversity, Working of Fire, NSRI volunteers and DRM volunteers.
Rain is expected overnight which should assist significantly.
