SanParks officials suspect arson caused Simon's Town fire

A preliminary investigation by South Africa's National Parks (SanParks) authorities signals that the Simon's Town fire may have been started deliberately.

Spokesperson for the Table Mountain National Park, Phillip Prins said the fire started outside the naval force property at Klawer Valley Mountains before spreading to residential areas on Thursday.

At least 60 people had to flee their Simon's Town homes, some of which were destroyed in the blaze that started earlier this week.
