A dispute over the appointment of two officials in the Tshwane council led to members throwing water bottles and chairs at each other.
Chaos and violence allegedly erupted when ANC councilors demanded the removal of the council’s chairperson.
Mapiti Matsena, deputy chairman of the ANC, Tshwane region has denied this.
I want to put it very clear, there was no ANC councilor that was involved in violence.— Mapiti Matsena, Deputy Chairman of the ANC, Tshwane region
Matsena says chaos erupted when the speaker called the police to remove ANC members from the chamber. He says it was the police who started throwing water bottles at ANC councillors and they retaliated.
The scuffle started by the police on the basis of the wrong ruling and calling of the police which is not in the rules of the council.— Mapiti Matsena, Deputy Chairman of the ANC, Tshwane region
