Earlier this month, 20-year-old Kleinmond pupil Le-Ann Adonis allegedly stole a school bus to take his peers to write a final exam paper after the driver was late.
Despite his good intentions, Adonis has been issued hefty fines totalling R5 000 for driving without a licence, as well as driving without a Public Driver's Permit (PDP).
Western Cape Education Department's Paddy Attwell said that the matter was under investigation and that there would be a hearing when exams conclude.
We are investigating the case. The consequences could have been dire if the bus had been in an accident and we have to view it in a serious manner. We are planning a hearing after the exams.— Paddy Attwell, Head of Communications at the Western Cape Education Department
