Open Streets aims to create shared spaces that help bridge the social and spatial divides in Cape Town, and encourage us all to think differently about how we move around the city.
Building on the first successful Open Streets Main Road in October 2017, a second Open Streets Day is planned for Sunday 25 February 2018. We aim to take feedback and lessons learned the first time around, to further test the feasibility of a regular network of car-free streets in Cape Town.
THEME: Coming together to create solidarity around the water crisis
ROUTE: M4 (Main Rd, Victoria Rd, Sir Lowry Rd) between Groote Schuur Dr in Observatory and Russell St in District Six
- Closure of inbound lanes only (with contraflow motorised traffic on outbound lanes) between Groote Schuur Dr and Salt River Rd
