The annual Christmas Concerts in aid of the Hermanus Cancer Fund take place in the romantic Bouchard Finlayson wine cellar, Hermanus, on Monday 19th and Tuesday 20th December 2011.This year guests will be entertained by the talented saxophonist Maxine Matthews and renowned pianist Christopher Duigan. The Hermanus Cancer Fund began over 12 years ago, when a small group of friends began to raise money to provide additional support to people suffering from cancer and their families in the area around Hermanus from Gansbaai to Kleinmond. Various fund raising events have been held over the last few years including concerts at Christmas time kindly hosted by Peter Finlayson in the cellar of the Bouchard Finlayson winery and sponsored by the Lloys-Ellis family. The Marine Hotel has sponsored a gift for a lucky ticket holder on both nights for a full English breakfast for two including a glass of sparkling wine. Tickets cost R150 and all proceeds go towards the Cancer Fund. Guests meet at the Bouchard Finlayson wine cellar at 5.45pm for a glass of wine and canapé’s on the evenings of Monday 19 and Tuesday 20 December. The concerts start at 6.30pm.

Comedian Marc Lottering and songwriter David Kramer have joined forces once again to bring a brand new musical comedy to the stage at the Baxter Theatre in October. Some Like it Vrot is written and directed by Kramer and will star Lottering and Christo Davids in the lead roles of Smiley and Fuad, characters created by Lottering in his stand up routines. Some Like it Vrot is set in contemporary Cape Town and moves between Wynberg and Woodstock, Grassy Park and the Waterfront. It features Mercia Meintjies, a police detective played by Larissa Hughes, Tammy the night club singer played by Jill Middelkop, and Big Bucks the notorious crime boss played by Abduragman Adams. Alistair Izobel who started his stage career as one of the original Broetjies in the Kramer Petersen musical District Six and went on to perform the role of Bingo in Kat and the Kings on Broadway in 1999, also features in this musical comedy.
