The Wavescapes Surf Film Festival is calling for art buyers to attend a unique charity auction in Cape Town. Celebrated South African artists were commissioned to weave their creative magic into 13 retro-styled surfboards made by Spider Murphy in Durban. Works by artists such as Cameron Platter, Konradski, Julia Rosa Clark, Richard Scott, Brett Murray, Varenka Paschke, and graffiti artists Warren Lewis and Senyol will be on display at the VEO Gallery from 8 to 15 December. An auction will then be held, with the largest bids taking the spoils. Proceeds will go to the NSRI and Shark Spotters.

Magnet Theatre will be 20 years old in 2007. They're celebrating with their hit shows ONNEST’BO. Visitors to Cape Town will be rewarded with a fresh look at an important part of the history of this city as it reflects the displacement of communities that were affected by forced removals. The production relies on physical and visual images to tell the story. A musical soundtrack has been compiled from various musical styles relevant in District Six at the time of forced removals. Mark Fleishman directs and movement is by Jennie Reznek.

There seems to be no end to the appeal of Tannie Evita's blonde sussie! Because of public demand for the Sunday shows at the Intimate Theatre, Bambi in Kabaret has been extended till mid-December. The Kabaret is about her extraordinary story of survival told in song, her background echoed in familiar tunes, her inspirations gently mocked through canny impersonation. With Pieter-Dirk Uys as Bambi and with music arranged and played by Godfrey Johnson, the cabaret is performed in three languages. Bambi's story is told in English, while the songs also include some in German and some in Afrikaans. This cabaret is not for the faint-hearted.

It’s time again for the highly acclaimed Tygerberg Children’s Choir’s very popular annual Christmas concerts.This world class choir celebrates its 37th year, and achieved 2nd place in the Children’s Choir division at the World Choir Games in Graz, Austria during July. The choir has, as usual, compiled a varied programme which will appeal to young and old. This year’s concert is entitled ‘Angels on Earth’ and promises to be a spectacle of sound and light. Favourites such as Laudate Dominum, Pie Jesu, O Holy Night, Agnus Dei, The Lord is my Shepherd and I Will Pray for You can be heard. The concerts will also feature the superb vocal group The Angels, all members of Tygerberg Children’s Choir and enjoying tremendous success with their debut album, The Voice of Angels, which was released earlier this year.
