The 2012 Absa Cape Epic will kick off with its Time Trial Prologue on Sunday, 25 March 2012. All teams will participate in a team time trial of 27km in Durbanville, Cape Town. Teams will have a pre-allocated time slot for their time trial and teams depart at 25-second intervals from 06:45 - 11:30. All the top teams and pro riders will start from 11:05. This will allow amateur riders and the public to watch the podium candidates racing each other for the honour of wearing the leader jerseys at the start of the first stage of the race. Each team's time in the prologue will add to their overall time and will be used to determine the seeding for the start of the first stage on Monday morning. The prologue allows the entire field to be seeded in a transparent manner. There will also be live entertainment for the entire family including farmers markets, live music, wine tastings and kiddies playzone. The prologue will be broadcast on SuperSport from 9:00 - 14:00, so tune in if you want to follow from the comfort of your home.
