‘n Ruk na Ma Grieta op die wit laken gaan lê het, haar siel aan God gegee het en die res van haar “aan mense wat dit nodig het”, het Jaypee in 2002 begin om elke jaar ‘n brief aan sy Ma op haar verjaarsdag in Die Burger se doodsberigte te plaas:
“Vandag is Ma 95. Dankie, Ma, dat Ma my grootgemaak het of ek heeltemal normaal is en nooit “odd” laat voel het nie. Deon Chang sê op ‘n Woolworths poster “it’s a privilege to be different”. (Die Burger; 11 Okt 2004.)
Die vertoning is ‘n menslike verhaal met lewensgetroue humoristiese momente wat jou sal laat huil van die lag, net om kort daarna weer ‘n hartseer traan weg te pik. “Oprah Winfrey sê ‘n kind kies sy ouers. As ek alles in die lewe verkeerd gedoen het, het ek ten minste een ding reggedoen en dit was om Ma te kies. Bye Ma, Jaypee.”

My Mother’s Italian, My Father’s Jewish & I’m in Therapy!
Written by Steve Solomon
This uproariously funny one-man play tells the story of an Italian-Jewish family and the crazy characters that surround it… and drive our hapless hero straight into the therapist’s chair. This hilarious comedy stars versatile and accomplished local actor Michael Richard, who has his work cut out for him in a one man tour de force- navigating his way through a tricky minefield of voices, dialects and sound effects, conjuring an array of wacky family relationships.

The story of the sinking of the SS Mendi - one of the worst marine disasters in history - hits the Baxter in February for a short season.
One of the greatest tragedies in the history of the South African military will be vividly brought to life when Did We Dance: Ukutshona ko Mendi (The Sinking of the Mendi) hits the Baxter Golden Arrow Studio from 23 February to 10 March at 7pm nightly with matinées on 25 February and 10 March at 2pm.
A formidable creative team and eight-member cast has been assembled to tell the epic story of South African soldiers trapped on the SS Mendi as it fatefully sank in British waters during World War I in 1917. The script is based on the book Black Valour by Norman Clothier.
Narrated through African elements, sounds and movements, Did We Dance: Ukutshona ko Mendi, is written by Lara Foot, directed by Mandla Mbothwe and developed by the company, and features Warona Seane, Bongo Nkani, Owen Manamela-Mogane, Thando Doni, Apollo Ntshoko, Bongile Mantsai, Mongezi Ncwadi and Xolani Ngesi.
The production sails into Cape Town following a highly successful premiere in King William’s Town in October last year. It brings together a hugely talented team and group of performers from across South Africa to create moments from our history that speak of the bravery of these men nearly a century ago.

Six of the Best
A Tribute to Freddie Mercury, Bon Jovi, Meat Loaf, Billy Joel, Cher & Pink
The Barnyard Theatre Productions presents a tribute to surpass all tributes, as we celebrate the music of the 6 greatest pop icons of all time. Imagine a concert featuring Freddie Mercury, Bon Jovi, Meat Loaf, Billy Joel, Pink and Cher all on one stage in one show singing number one hits from the last four decades of pop music.
These artists have dominated the charts to such a degree and made such an impact on the music industry that it is essential to stage a special tribute!
The show features an 11- piece cast who make their way through a repertoire that was made in Rock and Roll Heaven. Just imagine Meat Loaf challenging the vocal ability of Freddie who in turn has to compete with Bon Jovi! Then we have the power and beauty of Pink, and the soulfulness of Billy, and of course let’s not forget the flamboyance and decadence of Cher!
Six of the Best is about showmanship and charisma and the music all comes together in one big concert that will simply blow your mind!

How real is real? My work triggers sufficient interest I hope in what it ‘is’ ie what’s in front of them and might hopefully persuade people to ask what it means or stands for' ....Storm Thorgerson

The Cape Peninsula Organisation for the Aged is hosting a Charity Golf
Day at the Rondebosch Golf Course on Friday 23rd of March 2012 for the
benefit of our six sub-economic homes.
CPOA as a non-profit Organisation for the aged based in Cape Town, has
recognised that the plight of indigent older persons living in South
Africa is very real and has faithfully accepted the challenge to care
for older persons for the past 57 years through community based
services and homes for the frail older person. At present CPOA houses
approx. 500 indigent older persons and renders services to another
2000 community based older persons by means of our senior centres and
home help projects.
The need to recognise that all older persons have contributed to the
development of South Africa, albeit some in small ways, should be a
challenge to both the corporate world and communities to offer their
support in whichever way possible. It is also a well-known phenomenon
that populations are living longer and are increasingly more dependent
on care.
Our appeal to you is to support us in making this a memorable day.
Please complete the attached Golf Schedule and Help us care to
continue to make a difference in the lives of older persons in our
care.
Although we are fully aware that your company is inundated with
requests, we anticipate that you will favourably consider our appeal.
Should you be unable to enter a FOURBALL or sponsor a WET HOLE, we
will gladly accept and ACKNOWLEDGE any DONATION or PRIZES towards this
FUNDRAISING event. You would, of course, be welcome to send along
brochures/flyers for display on the day.
Thank you and kind regards.

Two of the most popular composers performed by two of the best piano men around–award-winning performers Godfrey Johnson and Roland Perold première their new show.
Contemporaries from across the Atlantic, Noël Coward and Cole Porter were masters of their craft when it came to hitting a nerve with just the right amount of sarcasm and irony, and brought us favourite songs such as Let’s Do It, Mad Dogs and Englishmen and Mrs. Worthington.
Featuring the dynamic musical duo Johnson and Perold, this collection of Noël Coward and Cole Porter’s timeless masterpieces delight with witticisms, social commentary and innate absurdity.
