This series of paintings expose indigenous South African plant forms and the strength and potency that they hold. Each artwork depicts the coexistence and interdependence of nature’s male and female forces, celebrating these counterparts that both oppose and harmonise with one another. Each plant relies on the inter-relationship of these two forces in order to be rooted within its perfectly balanced structure. Claudia’s work taps into our rich cultural heritage. Each artwork evokes the notion as to where we come from and where we belong. As South Africans, we are rooted in our cultural environment which, in turn, is fundamentally rooted in us. In isolating her imagery from its surrounding landscape, Claudia’s work reveals a dynamic moment in a plant’s life. Helene Bester het .Bedryfskommunikasie gestudeer aan die NWU (1995-­‐1998). Daar was sy deel van die Alabama-­‐studentegeselskap, asook die NWU-­‐koor. Helene Bester is bekend daarvoor om saam in die “room” van Afrikaanse kunstenaars se geselskap gesien te word.Sy is geliefd onder die feesgangers en het al saam met Mathys Roets by so ‘n geleentheid gesing. In 2002 stel sy haar eerste album, getiteld “Wens” vry en in 2004 haar tweede album “Hou van Jou”. Na die vrystelling van hierdie album word sy genooi om by Huisgenoot Skouspel op te tree. Vir drie jaar deel sy daar die verhoog saam met sangers soos Jannie Moolman, Jak de Priester, en Laurika Rauch. In 2007 word haar album “Oorgegee” vrygestel en in 2008 verskyn ‘n snit van Helene op die CD “Grootste Treffers” vrygestel deur Select. Nie net is sy ‘n briljante sanger en liedjieskrywer nie, maar sy het ook al op programme soos Droomhuis gepronk as aanbieder. Sy doen ook advertensiewerk vir Standardbank en word ook gekies om saam met Dawid Minnaar die stem agter ABSA KKNK se radio-­‐advertensies te wees. Sy doen ook TV advertensies vir die gewilde selfoonnetwerk, MTN. Met die rits lekker ervarings van haar loopbaan,kom deel Helene nie net haar liedjies nie, maar ook die staaltjies wat daarmee gepaard gaan. Dit beloof om ‘n aand van goeie musiek, lekker lag en lekker kuier te wees!

Be sure not to miss conceptual wildlife artist John Moore's current show at the SA Print Gallery. These particular works have never been exhibited in Cape Town before. On show are a selection of John Moore's woodcuts, etchings and lithographs. John's exceptionally detailed and realistic works are depictions of wildlife and the poignant plight of endangered species. This is at a time when there is urgent need to change our attitude to the environment and nature, which John feels passionate about. His style contains elements of surrealism and traditional naturalism which merge into thoughtful reflections of our age. John believes his work assists the viewer to find their own interpretation and allows the work to speak to them personally. The imagery often includes references to the Khoi-San - which he believes are the ‘first people' of the Southern African continent. The party continues in Jamaica with The Sun Splash Festival and the reggae sounds of Bob Marley’s Stir it up, Could you be loved and the beautiful Redemption Song. Then it’s time to touch down on our own home soil with our own South African celebrations that are not only historical but also have groove and soul! We celebrate The Cape Town Minstrel Carnival that has been brewed for more than three centuries in District Six and is sure to get the party going. The music never stops and is one endless party as we head for the Soccer World Cup 2010 with the anthem Wavin’ Flag bringing the show to a frenzy!
