Koeberg reveals plans to install a desalination plant

Eskom announced plans to install a desalination plant at the Koeberg Nuclear power Station to deal with the Western Cape's water crisis.

Koeberg power station manager, Velaphi Ntuli, says they will soon release a tender for the building of the plant.

The plan is to have the plant up and running by the end of August, says Ntuli.

We want to try and reduce our dependence from the City as much as possible and that's why we are driving this initiative.

According to Ntuli, the entire Koeberg nature reserve uses about 1 300 Kl a day and the power station uses about 357 Kl a day.
