#OneTooManySA campaign vows to eliminate abuse against women
Ilitha Labantu in partnership with various society groups have initiated the #OneTooMany campaign, an online and door to door campaign to get pledges and those who sign promise to do their part in eliminating abuse against women and children in their communities.
Ilitha Labantu is a social service and educational organisation working tirelessly in ensuring that victims of abuse have access to social services which are readily available to them.
CapeTalk's Africa Melane spoke to Siyabulela Monakali, spokesperson for Ilitha Labantu about the outcome of the campaigns since its inception.
We have seen seen recent spikes in incidences of violence against women and children since January 2017 and thought it would be a good idea to come together as various sectors.Siyabulela Monakali, Spokesperson for Ilitha Labantu
Under this pledge, we want people to voice out their grievances and stump out incidences of violence against women and children in their own communities.Siyabulela Monakali, Spokesperson for Ilitha Labantu
Monakali says the communities they have visited so far have welcomed the campaign saying they are tired of what they are seeing on daily basis in terms of violence against women.
The campaign has been very successful within the Cape flats region and we are looking into making a broader impact in the greater Western Cape and its out ports.Siyabulela Monakali, Spokesperson for Ilitha Labantu
