14 May 2018 11:56 AM
Nostalgia is creeping into the tech space, says Technobyte host Aki Anastasiou. He reviews the Fujifilm SQ10 and talks tech news.

Retro appears to be a growing trend in the world of technology.

Multinational photography and imaging company Fujifilm is the latest tech giant trying to bring old gadgets back to life.

The Fujifilm Instax Square SQ10 is an instant camera that produces prints similar to classic polaroid pics, using new square format film.

The instant camera is actually a digital camera with the ability to print photos on instant film, taking on a hybrid form.

Technobyte host Aki Anastasiou says while the camera is fun, it lacks in function and practicality.

The picture quality of the digital camera is not very impressive, Anastasiou adds. He says that most smart phones produce better images.

The tech expert says the camera sells for around R4000. A pack of film for 10 photos will set you back around R200.

Aki Anastasiou, Technobyte presenter

It's back to old school film, basically. I'm trying to find the practicalities of this device.

Aki Anastasiou, Technobyte presenter

It's pure nostalgia over here... Fujifilm make other fantastic cameras. They're giving Canon and Nikon a go for their money.

Anastasiou also discussed the latest developments announced at Google's annual conference with regards to artificial intelligence and image recognition.
