Every month some newborn babies leave local hospitals without any covering.
This morning, CapeTalk, in partnership with the Dis-Chem Foundation, confirmed a donation of R60 000 to Bless a Baby.
Bless a Baby was started by a group of ladies from El Shaddai Christian Church in response to the need for clothing and basic toiletries for newborn babies. As of October 2014 the group had managed to fill over 7 500 nappy bags which is an average of 90 bags per month. The nappy bags are delivered to a number of hospitals including Karl Bremer Hospital, Kraaifontein Day Hospital and Wesfleur Hospital in Atlantis.
CapeTalk host, Africa Melane, spoke to the group’s Glynne Roselli on the Breakfast Show this morning. She expressed her heartfelt thanks to CapeTalk and the Foundation saying that the donation would help the group increase their distribution.
The Dis-Chem Foundation’s Penny Stein says: It’s an absolute pleasure to be able to help Bless a Baby which is doing such incredible work. We commend these ladies for doing what they can to assist mothers and newborn babies.”
The donation will go towards filling the nappy bags with items such as nappies, clothes, knitted items and toiletries.
Every month CapeTalk and The Dis-Chem Foundation honour those who work tirelessly in our communities for their betterment.
