94.5 Kfm and 567 CapeTalk have announced their new line-up for 2011. “We have made some exciting changes that will spice up the line-up on both stations and bring in great local talent,” said Colleen Louw, Station Manager.
Aden Thomas will be joining Kfm from 9 January 2012 in the 09h00 – 12h00 time slot. Aden returns to music radio, after an absence of 5 years. “I have really missed the vitality that comes with music radio,” said Aden. “The Western Cape audience is an energetic and diverse one and I am thrilled to be able to interact with them, while bringing them the latest music that they can enjoy listening to while at work or driving in their cars.
94.5Kfm is a dynamic station that plays great music and gets involved with the community. Coming from CapeTalk I am passionate about the issues that concern my listeners and I intend on making a show for them where they feel understood, and for a few minutes everyday can relax and enjoy the music on offer.”
Aden is well-known as the CapeTalk Breakfast Show presenter and his shoes will be filled by Kieno Kammies. Kieno who is no stranger to CapeTalk and moves from the 21h00 – 24h00 slot on 567 CapeTalk and Talk Radio 702 into the breakfast show from 06h00 – 09h00. Kieno hails from Elsies River in Cape Town, where his family still lives, so the move was an easy decision for him. Kieno said that he is also looking forward to the “challenge of a new show.
Aden Thomas has created a strong base and I want to build upon it, whilst bringing in my own style.” He wants to encourage listeners to be fearless and to work with the local community, finding solutions and making a difference instead of just complaining about their city. “The audience must know that if they want inspiration or a paradigm shift they can tune in,” said Kieno.Further changes on Kfm include Stacey Norman swapping time-slots with Ryan Seacrest. She will be presenting from 19h00 – 22h00 and will bring a young and vibrant energy to the show. Stacey hopes to broaden the reach of the show to include the younger market by keeping the show trendy, playing hot music and bringing in lots of local bands. Stacey thrives on audience interaction and listeners will be able to call in, text, Facebook or tweet her.
She will be keeping her pulse on the happenings in the Western Cape and Johannesburg with a weekly gig guide. Seacrest will follow Stacey with the latest red carpet gossip and scandals of the stars direct from Hollywood. The weekends on Kfm will also be spruced up. Benito Vergotine moves to Saturday mornings and Sunday afternoons.
Ryan O’Connor, the popular Breakfast Show host, extends his Best of Breakfast with a show across Highveld Stereo and Kfm from 09h00 – 10h00 every Saturday. Primedia Broadcasting CEO Terry Volkwyn said the changes were aimed at growing and developing the talent, providing gripping radio to listeners and taking Kfm and CapeTalk to the next level. “We are confident that listeners will settle in to the changes in the New Year,” Volkwyn said.
