Starbucks opened its first store in Johannesburg a year ago and it will soon be expanding its business in the Mother City.

Starbucks South Africa has announced plans to expand its presence by opening stores in Cape Town.

Carlo Gonzaga, CEO of Taste Holdings, says it was not an easy venture to open their stores in South Africa 13 months ago.

He says it took them over three years of negotiating to finally launch their first store in Rosebank, Johannesburg.

There are currently four Starbucks stores in South Africa, two in Joburg and two in Pretoria.

Gonzaga says the exact date of their launch in Cape Town will be announced in due course but for now its a secret only known to them.

Cape Town is one of those markets that we going to have to earn our customers - one cup at a time
