On Friday, Oscar Pistorius' sentence for killing girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp was increased from 6 years to 13 years and 5 months.

Oscar Pistorius' sentence for killing his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp has been increased from 6 years to 13 years and 5 months.

This comes after the National Prosecuting Authority approached the Supreme Court of Appeal to appeal the sentence handed down by the High Court in Pretoria.

Kim Martin, CEO at Reeva Steenkamp Foundation spoke to 702's Afternoon Drive host Bongani Bingwa about this appeal.

Martin says Reeva's family is relieved that the law has run its course and justice has been served.

Today we focused on the foundation, started in Reeva's name and to honour her legacy.

Martin tells Bingwa that the journey has been tough on Steenkamp's parents because they will never get their daughter back.

Martin goes on to say as a victim of domestic abuse she will be establishing a campaign that will highlight the support victims need and victim shaming. The campaign urges spotters to don the colours, of the bruise - blue, purple and black in solidarity of victims of abuse.

You can keep up to date with the campaign by following #BluePurpleBlack or @RRSF_official on Twitter.
