Water and Sanitation Dept kicks off #SaveWater campaign in Cape Town
The National Department of Water and Sanitation is in Cape Town to launch the #SaveWater campaign to remind Capetonians as well as the rest of South Africa to save water amidst the drought.
Cape Town is grappling with the worst drought in decades with the possibility of a Day Zero now pushed back to 4 June.
Spokesperson for the department, Sputnik Ratau says the campaign has been joined by prominent individuals as ambassadors, to encourage citizens to be aware that every drop counts.
He says members of the Springbok rugby team and Ajax Cape Town have also joined the campaign.
We are excited with the kind of response we have received from Capetonians as well as other South Africans.
Sputnik Ratau, Spokesperson for the Department of Water and Sanitation
Unless we put this thought right up in the minds of the people we believe we will not be able to overcome this difficulty.
Sputnik Ratau, Spokesperson for the Department of Water and Sanitation
The best thing we can do, as a way of life, is to get into that behavioural change where consumption patterns as a normal practice, are very low.
