Gauteng hospital waiting times down thanks to 'lean' initiative
An initiative to improve staff efficiency and reduce patient waiting times in Gauteng has proved to be a success.
In 2015 the Lean Institute was asked to implement the principles of 'lean management' at four of Gauteng’s largest hospitals.
In the Lean Management System, where we start by trying to understand creates value for customers, in this case the customers being the patients.

We look at where there are wastes in the system and develop people to do the problem solving to eliminate those wastes and get the people flowing through the patient journey process.
