Calm restored in Soweto after violent protests
The police have confirmed that calm has been restored in White City, Soweto following the attack on foreign businesses in the area in a protest against the sale of expired and counterfeit food products.
Three people were reported dead from the violent protests and 27 arrested, in which two are facing murder charges.
Saps acting national commissioner, Lieutenant General Jacob Tsumane commended the police for a job well done in restoring peace in the area.
