The National Prosecution Authority has welcomed its new boss on Friday.
Advocate Shamila Batohi officially started her job as the newly appointed National Director of Public Prosecutions.
She is the first female to seat at the helm of the Prosecuting Authority, succeeding the beleaguered Shaun Abrahams.
Justice Minister Michael Masutha took the honours of welcoming and introducing Batohi to the staff at the NPA offices in Pretoria.
We are delighted today and consider it a celebratory moment in welcoming fresh blood into the organisation. We are all aware that the organisation has experienced many challenges, a lot of uncertainties, a lot of negative publicity and indications of divisions political and other forms of extremist interference... and of course with many commissions of inquiry that are underway it has been apparent that there have been difficulties in the organisation.

Masutha thanked President Ramaphosa for responded to the court injunction promptly to ensure that the leadership problems at the NPA were resolved.
It befalls on her to take it from there in terms of dealing with the many challenges which she inherits in the organisation.

Executive Secretary at Casac, Lawson Naidoo says the new NDPP will have hit the ground running in dealing with the many cases that are before the various commissions of inquiries that are currently underway.
She has a huge number of tasks ahead of her.

I think the fundamental issue for her is that she his going to have to restore the staff morale at the NPA and the capacity constraints which they face there to ensure the successful prosecutions.
