Eco-conscious brand, Sealand Gear in its fight against marine pollution makes upcycled products from waste materials.

A Cape Town based eco-conscious brand, Sealand Gear is taking up-cycling to another level by manufacturing bags out of old yacht sails, billboards, and other waste materials.

This innovative idea has been acknowledged with the Maker-to-Market award at the Design Foundation Awards.

Co-founder at Sealand Gear, Jasper Eales says the whole idea was to differentiate themselves from the rest by producing products that will appeal to a broad spectrum of people.

We definitely appeal to a niche market within the South African context. We wanted to build an international brand.

Jasper Eales, Co-founder - Sealand Gear

Eales says they are about to open their first flagship experience store in Cape Town which he believes will be the true experience of the Sealand lifestyle and culture

The store will be opened at the beginning of April in the Waterfront.

This would be our first step toward direct retail and expansion into Johannesburg and the international market.
