Ramaphosa fingered in PP's Bosasa investigation?
Tiso Blackstar journalist Karyn Maughan says we're likely to hear official word soon from Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane that she has served President Cyril Ramaphosa with a section 7 (9) notice.
Maughan says she has it on good authority from sources within the Presidency and the Public Protector's office that the notice has been served in respect of R500 000 paid by Bosasa boss Gavin Watson to Ramaphosa's presidential campaign.
We understand that he [Cyril Ramaphosa] has received this notice and has ten days in which to respond to it.Karyn Maughan, Senior reporter - Tiso Blackstar
This is a very, very high stakes game for both the president and the public protector.Karyn Maughan, Senior reporter - Tiso Blackstar
Maughan says the question at hand for Mkhwebane is whether the president knowingly misled Parliament about the R500 000 donation he had received from Bosasa CEO Gavin Watson.
We've never had a Public Protector who's actually found that a President has lied to Parliament.Karyn Maughan, Senior reporter - Tiso Blackstar
It is immensely serious for the President if it is found that he deliberately lied to Parliament. There are provisions within the law that carry with it a two-year jail sentence.Karyn Maughan, Senior reporter - Tiso Blackstar
