Villiera Wines doing their bit to minimise water wastage
It is a well-known fact that the Western Cape has unfortunately reached a critical point in its drought crisis.
The City continued to warn businesses to start implementing contingency and alternative water measures in their own operations and urged residents to use their water sparingly.
Villiera Wines has always taken water recycling and usage seriously.
In their cellar, all water use is monitored and recorded. Waste is settled and sent through a marsh area to purify the water before it enters an irrigation dam. Water samples are taken regularly to check on water quality. Water can then be put through a drip irrigation system back into the vineyards.
In keeping with their sustainable approach and bearing in mind the current water crisis, Villiera Wines has been very busy over the past month installing a rainwater harvesting system.
