Cape Town desalination plants are in full swing

The Democratic Alliance in the Western Cape announced on Monday that all three desalination plants are online and will produce 8 million litres of water a day.

Monwabisi, Strandfontein and V&A Waterfront desalination plants are now complementing the City of Cape Town’s are now augmenting the City's strained water supply system.

Current dam levels are at 56.9%.

The City says Cape Town's average water consumption remains below the 500 million litre threshold.
